Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – The Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2025, which concluded Sunday, offered 41 Dominican authors a crucial platform to expand their reach beyond national borders through its specialized Business Room.
Designed as a core attraction, this space successfully fostered connections between local literary talent and international publishers interested in distribution and sales.
A notable addition this year was the debut participation of Bubok, a digital publishing and reading platform, which aimed to equip Dominican publishers with new tools to broaden their market access.
The fair also attracted literary agents and audiobook service companies, eager to adapt various works by national authors into audio formats.
As part of this initiative, an international literary agent conducted training workshops for local counterparts, sharing expertise and experiences to enrich the domestic publishing landscape.
Ultimately, the Business Room at the FILSD 2025 solidified its role as an ideal venue for fostering dialogue and finalizing agreements for publication, translation, and rights transfers, thereby significantly boosting Dominican literature's international profile.
