SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The Dominican Republic's Direction of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency (Propeep) officially handed over the newly renovated Inmaculada Concepción chapel in El Limón, Pedro Brand, on Sunday, aiming to provide a suitable space for religious services.
Robert Polanco, director of Propeep, expressed his joy during the dedication mass. "Today my soul is happy, because I know that more people will be evangelized here, baptisms will also be performed, the choir will grow, because this is a great community, just like La Cuaba," Polanco said.
Polanco highlighted the strong faith and good nature of the El Limón community as the primary motivation for completing the project.
Speaking to reporters at the event, Polanco described the chapel as a "house of worship" and a gathering place for families, youth, and pastoral groups, inviting residents to attend Sunday mass and engage in evangelization.
He affirmed that the initiative aligns with President Luis Abinader's administration's commitment to restoring community and religious spaces, which are vital for Christian faith, culture, social cohesion, and community identity.
Polanco's remarks followed the chapel's inaugural mass, officiated by parish priest Tomás Soto of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo.
Dignitaries present at the eucharist included Propeep Deputy Director Yenny Chaljub, Vice President of the Presidential Commission for Neighborhood Development Support Héctor Luis Batista, Municipal Board Director Carlos Montaño, and Propeep Operations Director Juan Carlos Rivas, alongside special guests and community members.
